Getting Started with TeX and LaTeX

If you need to install TeX, LaTeX and related systems by yourself, get
TeX Live CD! A free copy
of TeX Live CD is available to the members of
TeX Users Group.
You can also contact your
local TeX User Group
for more information.
The TeX Live CD offers complete TeX system for Unix
and Windows 95/Windows NT and an extensive collection of documents.
In the top directory you will find README file(s) and an install
script, which makes the installation to be a simple task.
And with TeX Live Guide
by your side your task will be even easier.

Often an immediate reason for starting with TeX/LaTeX is a publication
of a paper. If the publisher sends instructions asking for a specific style,
you should ask them for a ready-made style package! Here are the
